Kissmet is an East West band that combines elements of Bhangra, Rock, Indian classical Raags and Funk to create a truly unique blend of ‘grass roots’ Anglo Indian music. Fronted by two UK born Sikh brothers, they perform material in English, Punjabi and Hindi, often changing tongues on the fly, in an exciting roller coaster blend of the East and West where you don’t know what’s coming next. Their performances are never simply a ‘gig’ but an experience in which the whole audience gets involved and on their feet.
Recent performances include Glastonbury 2008,09,10, The Larmer Tree Festival and the UK’s largest New Year’s Eve event, The Edinburgh Hogmanay, where they performed to over 20,000 people. The band has also played to Helsinki, Prague, Krakow, Dublin, Belfast, Zurich, Goa and Mexico, where they played to over 60,000 people at the Ollinkan World Music Festival. They’ve just released their album Trippin the Life Fantastic and are heading for a tour of the USA in May 2011
Where Kissmet play they cause a stir. Hugely talented, charismatic, uncompromising, exciting… If you want something completely different this is the band for you.
