Biography

Engaging James for your event allows you to relax and have your day run the way you want it. He has over 30 years experience in both industry and the performing arts and is a trained actor. His years in industry have been based mainly around customer service with some of the world’s most distinguished car manufacturers including Jaguar and Aston Martin.

This experience has allowed him to work with and work for people from all walks of life. He is equally at home with those at the sharp end, the shop or workshop floor, as he is dealing with celebrity and even royalty, all of whom he has experience of serving directly.

James is a Fellow of the Guild of International Professional Toastmasters.and has been thoroughly trained in the appropriate etiquette and procedure required to officiate as a Toastmaster or Master of Ceremonies at your ceremony or event. This means he is alert to everything that needs doing and can ensure that everything is done as it should be and to time.

Aside from being a Toastmaster James is also a professional event host (a Toastmaster without the suit), a presentation skills trainer (helping those requiring confidence to speak in environments they may find uncomfortable, such as in public or at an interview) being a professional voice artist and being a dad to his young daughter (by far the most difficult of all).

Therefore, in addition to being able to help at your event on the day he can also help those who are to be a part of it. So if you or anyone has to speak and you want advice or possibly training to get presented in the best way you can, then he can help you with that too.

Coming from an arts and industry background in customer service, gives James a distinct advantage over most of his peers when it comes to being able to adapt, not just to his surroundings, but also the increasingly varied demands of his clients.

He is rare as a toastmaster / facilitator in that he is able to morph from one role to another with ease. Additionally, because of his ability to mimic many different voices, not only can he change how he sounds, but also he is happy to have his appearance adapted as well.

So if you are planning an event that is themed or it is not considered appropriate that the man in charge is dressed in a red tailcoat, then look no further than James. Themed evenings are better managed by a facilitator that matches your theme. As an example if you are holding a corporate event at Universal Studios’ World of Harry Potter, then who better to facilitate the evening than the headmaster Albus Dumbledore? Or if you are holding a James Bond themed event, then who would be better than M or Q to run the proceedings?

The fact the dress changes, does not change how professionally an event is run. It does however, give your event that special lift and surprise that your guests, delegates or employees won’t expect, and will raise it to another level.

If you want your event to be a success and you want someone to take the strain away by fronting or running it for you, then look no further than James. Not only will you enjoy the occasion more, but so will everyone else.

Testimonials

“I recently engaged James to co-ordinate a Civic luncheon at Guildhall and he was superb. Unflappable, charming, helpful and organised, James did a fantastic job and helped to make the event one to remember. I would not hesitate to book him again or to recommend him.”
Jane Wharam

Best decision we made!

“Thank you for being part of our wedding day at 8 Northumberland Avenue on 19th March 2016. It wouldn’t have been the same without you. As quite an organised yet realistic person, I’d have to advise that it is near impossible to pre-empt and plan for every eventuality on your big day. James was there to iron out the inevitable hiccups. Both Atul and I were able to take a back seat and enjoy our day to the max, knowing that James had our best interests at heart. Our families couldn’t agree more. Best wedding decision we made!”

“We wanted a toastmaster-type person for the event of the 25th anniversary of our firm. The Managing Director found James on-line and immediately we knew he was the one for us! Flexible, talented and really good value for money. When we spoke to him, he was self-assured which made us feel that ‘at least someone would know what they were doing’ – there was so much for us to do on the night! James exceeded all expectations and was exactly what we wanted. I would highly recommend him!”
Adele Jameson

“James was the toastmaster at my daughter’s wedding. He was absolutely brilliant! Everything went so smoothly because of him. So many of our guests were really impressed with him, that soon after 2 of our guests who were to be married a few months later hired him for their wedding ! We were organising another a Charity function and we all had to have James again! I strongly recommend James for any big event that you are organising. A toastmaster experience not to be missed!”
Reena Chakraborty

“James confidently and competently managed a somewhat noisy room of over 1000 mortgage industry professionals and made sure that he had everyone’s attention when necessary. I look forward to working with James again.”

“James performed the role of toastmaster at our recent civil partnership. He looked the part and played the part brilliantly. He was calm, confident and very professional and exerted exactly the right amount of authority at the right moments. Knowing that James would be managing the smooth running of our day took all the pressure off us and meant we could focus entirely on hosting our guests and enjoying the day. Having a toastmaster at your wedding really makes the day special. Having James Hasler as your toastmaster is extra special. Thank you, James for doing such a brilliant job.”
Amanda Russell & Claire Shepherd

“The moment I saw and heard James running a trade show I hired him to host our most important event of the year, the LS symposium. He is a fast learner and acted as if he had been in our industry for years and he performed a great job of keeping the deligates from getting carried away with the time. He ran the event in a very professional way, making a great connection with all the speakers and most importantly with the audience.”
Ariel Lasry – Manager for Life Sciences Industry Sales, EMEA Region, at Rockwell Automation.

“Don’t know where to begin to thank you for the excellent Master of Ceremonies work you did for us once again at the Revels dinner dance which made the evening such a success. Your calm professionalism attending to all the timings and keeping everyone in order enabled the evening to proceed without a hitch. So, on behalf of everyone, many thanks for the enormous effort you put in.”
Geoff Pitcher – Chairman of the Peppard Revels.

“It took over 30 years of running the Vintage Festival to get James in. All we can say is, we wish we had done it sooner. An MC to fit any occasion, James injected personality, clarity and professionalism to our event to the benefit of our 4000 customers, 80 producers and us.”
Anna Leach – Laithwaites Wines

“Many thanks for the truly professional work you did for us at Jason and Becky’s Wedding. I have been at and held numerous events over the years and never have I received so many compliments about a Toastmaster as we have had for you. We look forward to you helping us again on other happy occasions.”
Michael Gross.

“We are all in agreement that having you there was one of the best decisions we made, you really knew how to work the room and you took the pressure off me so I actually got to enjoy the evening! We also think you did a fantastic job with the auction, it made more than double what we were expecting, so was a great success, especially with raising so much money from the £10 note you donated!”
Katy Willmott Organiser of the Barratt Homes Princes Trust Rugby World Cup Fundraiser.

“As a longstanding member of the Revels Committee and vice chair, can I thank you for your absolutely brilliant service as Master of Ceremonies for our Peppard Revels Jubilee Ball in early June.

It was by no means an easy job. You had to control a crowd of nearly 500 revellers in a marquee over a programme lasting 6 hours. You had to communicate information to keep everybody safe and aware. You had to phase the collection of food for 48+ tables from the kitchen to the marquee with professional and volunteer help – and the clearing of those tables. Then there was the dancing, the raffle, the bar and the fireworks all under your domain and you had to remain charming and entertaining throughout!

It was brilliantly done with a firm hand with lots of humour – sometimes not easy given the inadequacies of the PA system.

Many thanks and I hope you consider doing it again.”
Barbara Laithwaite – Co Chairman of the Peppard Revels.
