Biography

The Palace Avenue Dance Orchestra is an authentic and very swinging dance orchestra performing special arrangements of music from the 1930s and 1940s. They perform a fully-transcribed pad of music, with each song painstakingly taken down from original recordings and arranged specifically for the band, with feature numbers for each member.

The music that the band performs is mostly British and American dance band music, chosen from the golden era of jazz, and the majority of their songs are real hidden gems, with many more classic and familiar numbers included.

The rich, haunting melodies of Isham Jones, Lew Stone, Ambrose and Jack Hylton mix with distinctive and driving early 1930s Fletcher Henderson, Nat Gonella, Cab Calloway, and Mills Blue Rhythm, all the way up to later ’30/’40s numbers from Artie Shaw, Benny Goodman, Ellington, Dorsey and Louis Armstrong.
