Biography

Northern Star are a pop and folk style cover band composed of five fantastic musicians. The line-up includes male vocals, drums, guitar, bass/double bass and sax/flute. The band are incredibly versatile and offer a very unique sound, with their electric and festival folk styles and the addition of brass! If you’re looking for a mix of classic pop/rock covers, Mumford and sons Style Folk, 90’s garage and some super sweet sax solos then this is the only band for you!

Electric and Folk Style Sets
One of the benefits of hiring Northern Star over many other bands is their ability to show off two different styles. It’s like having two different bands perform for the price of one! We know it is always great to add variety to your event, so as standard for a wedding or party Northern Star offer both styles. Firstly electric, where they play pop and rock songs very similar to the record, and then their Folk style, where they put down their electric instruments and swap them for double bass and acoustic guitars. They channel their inner Mumford and sons to add a folky twist to popular hits, which always goes down a storm!

Their set list has been expertly crafted over years of trial and error. It always has a great reception with the bands audiences. All ages will be excited by the music they play, from the very very young to the very very old! There’s something in there for everybody

“I just wanted to let you know that we were really pleased with our choice of The Northern Sign to play at our wedding. They were so much fun and the quality of their music was brilliant. They were professional and reliable and also put up with the groom insisting he wanted to be on stage (repeatedly)! Please thank all of the lads from us for making the evening of our wedding such a success. Everything ran very smoothly and we didn’t need to worry about anything. All of the guests (of all ages) have been saying how brilliant they were.”

Amy and Hari Wedding

“Could you please pass on my whole-hearted thanks to the band for their amazing performance at our wedding. We were running behind schedule but that didn’t stop them from giving us the full set and then some! People haven’t stopped talking about them and as the bride, I personally couldn’t have been happier. Thanks so much and will recommend them to future wedding planners for sure!”
Kind regards, Christine Married

“Please will you pass on our thanks for an amazing performance by the band, they were awesome. Their music was exceptionally popular and the dance floor was filled from the first dance to the last. I am sure Ted helped by getting the crowd to chant “one more song” as the room was filled with laughter and urging him on. (Ted is 7 going on 27 and a true festival fan). They obviously enjoyed our Northern friendliness and hospitality and spent some time with the guests late into the night (or should that be morning!!)”
Our kind regards, Sue & Eric Larmett

“Thank you SO much for making our wedding so bloody awesome! Everyone has told us you’re the best band they’ve seen. You MADE our wedding!! Loved the sax player coming out into the crowd and helping sing along to Teenage Dirtbag!! THANK YOU for the bottom of our hearts. Backstreets Back was an epic encore choice.”
Emily and Cameron Wedding

“Northern Star played at our wedding in October and honestly they made the day! Everyone loved them! The oldies, the kiddies and especially the single ladies ;)! They are not your typical wedding band- they are fresh and modern and unusual! I’ve lost track of the number of people who have called to tell us how great they were! Thanks so much guys!” Laoise Mary Wedding

“I had these guys come play at my bar after seeing them busking in Kingston. They did a great job of getting the crowd going, and everyone clearly felt very comfortable watching them.”
Huseyin, The Library Club, Kingston.

“You guys were absolutely awesome – we’ve had lots of comments from guests saying how great you were and we loved you too! Thanks for filling the dance floor!”
