Mike’s professional music career began at the age of 8 when he was a chorister for five years, during which time he also appeared in the hit movie Four Weddings and a Funeral and sang on a number of soundtracks. Mike then went on to study music at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where he gained a scholarship and a bachelor of music degree with honours.

In 2004, Mike auditioned as a quarter of the vocal group G4 on the first-ever series of The X Factor. A life-changing moment for Mike, he and his three friends ended up reaching the final of the live shows. G4 subsequently released three albums, which sold over two million copies in the UK.

When G4 disbanded, Mike embarked on five solo tours across the UK, released his debut solo self-penned album “to the fore”, and made numerous appearances in pantomimes and musical theatre shows, including starring in in the UK Tour of ‘The Sound of Musicals’. He also wrote an opera called ‘The Miller’s Wife’ based on his own family tree, which premièred at the Arcola Theatre, London as part of the Grimeborn Opera Festival.

Having reunited at the end of 2014, G4 celebrated their 10th Anniversary by performing for ‘One Night Only’ at London’s Barbican Centre. Due to phenomenal demand, they embarked on a whirlwind set of tours over the following three years, both in the UK and Asia.

In recent years, Mike continued to star in countless opera productions, including Verdi’s Requiem for the memorial concert to support those affected by the Grenfell Tower fire.

In 2018, Mike released his hotly-anticipated second solo album called ’10 Years On’ which resulted in a solo UK tour, and then Mike hit the road again for G4’s Christmas Tour. The following year, Mike played his dream title role in Mendelssohn’s Elijah and starred in Saint-Saëns’ opera ‘Henry VIII’. He also returned to Opera Holland Park for the fourth summer running in Cilea’s ‘L’arlesiana’.

In 2020, as a result of the devastation of the arts industry due to Coronavirus, Mike has diversified and performed shows online every Wednesday, taught singing virtually from home, and released his third solo album ‘The Mike Must Go On’ in December, comprising all self-penned songs.

Whilst 2021 still looks currently uncertain for the industry, amongst other things Mike is keeping everything crossed to be able to get back on the road with G4 for 60 UK tour dates from October onwards, including a Christmas tour in cathedrals across the UK.

Mike Christie is perfect for: Online events, private tuition, workshops, opera events, festivals, awards ceremonies, corporate events, product launches, media events, weddings, music events, sports events, Christmas events, private functions
