BIOGRAPHY

Kwabana Lindsay was born in Accra, Ghana in 1964. As a child he studied ornithology and then anarchism and left school in 1980 to a life of playing guitar and singing on street corners. After learning to juggle he jointly set up a clown co-operative with friends and went on tour with a five strong musical slapstick troop.

From there he went back to school but to fool school! “Fool Time” Bristol, studying a spectrum of performing related themes and learning slack rope walking among other circus skills.

Developing a style that combined circus theatre skills with music Lindsay pursued both a solo career and has worked with numerous people in circus, street theatre and even opera.

WHAT HE DOES!

“Fiddler on the rope” Irish Times.

Catch your breath as Lindsay wobbles wildly, gasp with wonder at the ballerina-like antics, as he balances on the rope whilst playing an Irish jig.

Clowning

“Stupidity a speciality” The Scotsman.

Lindsay draws influence from the classic silent movie greats, incorporating this with his own modern style of clowning. He combines the romantic with the ridiculous, his own recipe for fun, sprinkled with foolishness for that extra spice.

Mime

“The puppet of his own invention” Kwabana Lindsay.

A master of improvisation, audience interaction, slapstick and buffoonery. Lindsay is well versed in the international language of mime, which forms the foundation for his work.

Acrobatics

“Fit as a fiddle” Bild Zeitung.

Lindsay will stand on his head for you and that’s not just literally speaking. Enjoy watching the extra-ordinary feats as he performs his tumbling routine whilst club-swinging or juggles fire, playing the harmonica at the same time.

Stilts

“wacky showman” Bath Chronicle.

On stilts Lindsay can take on a range of persona; from the traditional friendly characters that delight children, to that of magnificent three metre tall giant creatures dancing with fire. Stilt work features in the one-man circus and is particularly suitable for parades and carnivals. This man certainly stands out in a crowd!
