Biography

Kitty LaRoar, Bud LaRoar & Nick Shankland sound like a big band, even when they play as a trio. Kitty & Bud are sisters, both singing & playing drums, while Nick sings at the piano and even plays bass. Which gives you the piano/bass/drums of a jazz rhythm section plus three voices in harmony. Listening to Kitty & Bud purring their sultry of jazz vocals is a treat in itself, but the sight of either poised elegantly at the miniature “cocktail” drum-kit lightly syncopating with jazz brushes makes this act a unique talking point. They are every inch old-school Hollywood glamour, think Marilyn Monroe & Jane Russell meet Frank Sinatra, or Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong..

The act specialises in the music of the 1920s, 1930s, 1940s, as well as the big band swing of the 1950s to mid-60s, and will provide a bespoke set for any occasion.

Performance times, and the act can provide all instruments/PA system & lighting if necessary. Add saxophone or trumpet for a quartet, and double bass for a quintet etc all the way up to a 20-piece big band.
