The Blowpipes

Biography

The Blowpipes are an ultra-versatile, creative brass ensemble available for adding charm to convivial, creative and corporate events, including parties, conferences, anniversaries, launches, lunches, functions, knees-ups, and many more.

Paul Taylor has been gigging, touring the planet and recording with jazz, African and Latin bands for decades, especially with Roberto Pla’s Latin Ensemble and Snowboy and The Latin Section, and of course, with the pioneering trio, The Blowpipes. His latest project is trombone poetry, that consists of solo performances of improvised music and original poetry. He is also the director of The Vintage Tea Dance Orchestra.

Matthew Benson has performed at Albert Hall with Ulster Youth Jazz Orchestra and at Ronnie Scott’s with Trinity Big Band. He has also performed with John Dankworth, Mark Lockheart and Dennis Rollins.

Raphael Clarkson, a graduate of the University of York, is now pursuing a postgraduate degree in Musicology and Performance at Oxford University. He is active in various ensembles, including WorldService Project, Tromboboe and Appori Quartet.
