Established in 1992, The Chipolatas present unique performances incorporating high-octane circus skills, music, theatre and dance. Blending accordion and acoustic rhythms with hip-hop and street style, their performances and inspiration are embedded in worldwide culture. This is the essence of their unique identity: mixing traditional roots with contemporary stylings.
Their latest production ‘Gentlemen of the Road’ is a high-energy performance presenting physical feats with live squeezebox and breakbeats. The production features three musical clowns in a fresh theatrical package, referencing folk cultures worldwide.
Tapping into themes that are both traditional and contemporary, embracing the old and the new, The Chipolatas transcend trends to create a timeless quality. This talented group presents a unique and universally acclaimed show, suitable for audiences of all ages.
The Chipolatas have a proven track record in professional and high-quality arts provision, committed to inclusion and equal opportunities. Their repertoire includes a wide range of educational outreach projects, prioritising the passing on of skills and performance techniques to new generations.
They were awarded a Bachelor of Arts Diploma for best family show and won the World Circus Festival Geneva 2010 (as voted for by the public).
