Their infectious Charleston steps make every foot feel tip-tappiddy-happy.

MARVEL: at moves to make your mother shimmy.

GASP: at the black bottom! (The dance made famous by Josephine Baker)

DELIGHT: in the speed, sparkle and spectacle of these thoroughly modern Flappers.

At every kick and turn the Bees Knees exude the quirky exoticism, style and humour of an era when knees were VERY exciting!

Comprising of Aila Baila and Baroness Jo Jo, The Bee’s Knees specialise in Vintage and eccentric dances from the 1920’s – 1940’s, reviving popular dance crazes and steps from the Jazz age, then adding their own unique twist.

Their successful appeal has evolved from picking up-tempo, original music; developing fancy footwork and slick tandem choreography, adding delectable costumes, immaculate presentation and with plenty of humour and character.

Some of their most poular routines include:

The Charleston: A lively and characterful crow pleaser full of competitive kicks and turns, claps and slaps!

Happy Feet: As Barn storming pilot’s they ‘loop the loop’ in a way Busby Berkley would have directed; soaring effortlesly between classic chorus line and Lindy Hop.

Sailor: Jaunty sailors on shore leave, Captain and Cabin boy execute their eccentric choreographic drills for queen and country.

Bongo: a sultry and seductive homage to Josaphine Baker, incorporating moves from the Black Bottom and drawing on the 1920’s hollywood fascination with the exotic,

Ha cha na: Based around the shim sham Shimmy (a popular 20’s Jazz /Tap routine) to quirky music and choreography to match.

Other themed routines include rootin tootin’ cow girls, quick changing Russian dolls, a Halloween number and the Sand dance.

The duo’s versatilaty means they occasionally work with male dance partners and they also have a chorus line of up to 12 flappers: ‘More Knees Please’!

The Bee’s Knees’ growing reputation as a sizzling double act has increased demand for their expert DJ skills. Aila Baila also performs in Swizzleshaker with Dave Chameleon and in Flamenco Aire.
