Imagine a voice that embraces all styles of music, each with as much feeling as the other. That is the voice of Movin’ Melvin Brown from Austin Texas. His sound has been compared to such great entertainers as Otis Redding, Ray Charles, Sam Cooke, Louis Armstrong, and many of the gospel greats.

A multi-Awarded Entertainer! His intriguing shows have entertained all age groups at major International Arts & Music Festivals, among which includes Edinburgh, Avignon, Sydney, Edmonton, Adelaide, Tokyo and the very recent Nice Jazz Festival; as well as Las Vegas Show Lounges MGM Grand, Jupiter’s Casino in Australia, gospel shows and several worldwide events. At The Edinburgh Festival Revue covered by BBC, he was the only act to be called back on several occasions because of popular demand.

Melvin has received many awards around the world for his Musical “A Man, A Magic, A Music”, A Musical journey through Black Music history from 50’s to 90’s, in Songs, Dance, Tap, Story and Comedy: at the New York Festival 2008 “Outstanding Performer”, in Perth Australia “Best Show”, in Wellington New Zealand “Best Musical” and “Outstanding Performance”, in Brighton UK “Best International Act” and nomination “Star of the Festival”, in Orlando “Best Performer”, as well as five star or equal press review (2007 Sven’s World Radio Golden Viking Music Awards in L.A. “Best Blues Artist”).

In the 70’s Melvin had a big hit in the Southern States called “Send Me Some Love” and recently another song of his, “Love Stormy Weather” has been re-discovered on the charts in London on Jazz FM Radio. Melvin and his band did a tour in the Southern States and in Alabama the group opening for them was “Lionel Ritchie & The Commoders”.

As a single act, he opened for the FOUR TOPS at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, and for Harris Connick Jr. in Australia at the Jupiter Casino and he has been also described as “The Hardest Working Man on stage”, “Mr. Entertainment”…

Movin’ Melvin has appeared on major TV shows around the world, including CNN International from The Art Deco Festival in Miami, at the Oprah Winfrey and Quincy Jones birthday party for Maya Angelou, BBC coverage of the Edinburgh Festival, GMTV London, ABC Sydney, RAI Rome, RTE Madrid, etc.

He has also appeared in a number of films including: The Minstrel Man, Home by Midnight, The Red Headed Stranger, A Pair of Aces, with

Willie Nelson, and Another Pair of Aces. He was also featured tap dancing to Mozart’s music in a Sydney Australia Tourism commercial and he was the highlight of the National Expo in Switzerland and in the Edinburgh, Adelaide, Avignon, Zurich, and Music awards.
