Biography

Perhaps most notorious for having created polka-dotted pop group, The Pipettes, Monster Bobby has spent a great deal of the last five years, on tour with the group, scouring the world’s record shops for rare and unusual vinyl.

Now possessed of a near-encyclopaedic collection, spanning everything from music hall tunes to grand opera, one hit wonders to avant-garde jazz, Bobby is now a suitable disc jockey for practically any occasion, from weddings to techno clubs to cabaret evenings to haunted houses.

As the man behind The Pipettes, you’d expect a big love of pop music, and indeed Bobby is as comfortably mixing Ronettes with the Supremes as he is blending Beyonce with Miss Dynamite, not to mention scores of all the best pop classics from 70s and 80s.

As a widely published film and music critic with a masters degree in contemporary music though, Bobby is also capable of pulling tunes out of the bag that will have even the most determined fan of the esoteric scratching their head, and could just easily provide an atmospheric soundtrack or a full on party mix.

In addition to his work with The Pipettes, Bobby has also released an album and several EPs of solo material, and remixed work by The Chap, MC Envy, Marit Bergman, and DJ Yoda, amongst others. He has DJd in clubs from Tokyo to Seattle to Stockholm to Rome, and has held long-running residencies at the Lock Tavern in Camden, Bar Story in Peckham, and The Haggerston in Dalston.
