SCARLET STREET RESISTANCE + SUPPORT experimental acoustic/electro DOORS 8PM £6
Scarlet has led a life of crime and emptiness, our true femme fatale. Mr Jones nearly hit the point of breakdown in his efforts to track down and arrest Scarlet for almost 2 years back when he was a dubious policeman but since he was unceremoniously fired and Scarlet gave up the hard, fast and violent lifestyle they formed The Scarlet Street Resistance in early 2007.
This new moody musical partnership has been described as part electronica and part folk piano. Seamlessly integrating dirty Portishead style beats, fat synths, Tori Amos style piano, bond movie orchestration, a twist of dark drama, theatrics and mystery all tip toeing along the edge of reality.
The live show is complemented with projected movie style visuals, the full band in 40’s noir costume, a few flashes of guns and moments of emotionally awkwardness.

SAM HEARD + THE SPECIAL K’S indie/rock DOORS 8PM £6/3
A songwriter since the age of 14, Sam is a classically trained pianist but a self-taught guitarist. Since leaving school Sam has travelled around the world, picking up inspiration from conversations and relationships, people and places.
Sam writes all her own material, which she performs both effortlessly and passionately, either sitting at her piano or fronting her band with her guitar. Many of Sam's songs are written in Dublin, a city she attributes with giving her a musical identity and creative independence. Unsurprisingly her musical influences are all great singers and songwriters, from Sandy Denny (who inspired Sam's song "Sandy") to Nina Simone, Cat Stevens to David Bowie.
Bringing back the oldschool, The Special K's are a fresh band ready to explode onto the South coast music scene in 2008.
Addictive lyrics, catchy hooks, the odd guitar solo and Howards dancing make for an energetic, free-flowing live set not to be missed! (Especially when Howard whips out his Harmonica, very sexy :p) Don't miss out, drag your mates down to one of the shows, join us for drinks, you never know, you might have a good time and want to do it all again...
NEWS - The first two track demo EP has now been written and recorded at Soundlocker Studios by producer Win Stanley and is up on the site for you to hear! Both tracks are currently being re-mixed ready for release as part of a local showcase album. Watch this space!

CHRIS SIMMONS + EMILY BAKER + JIA acoustic/alternative DOORS 8PM £6
Chris Simmons has bee described as “beautifully ambitious. One to watch" by Time Out
And "A breath of fresh air. This young man is going to be very big indeed" by The Times, who are we to argue with such accolades?
As for Emily Baker, she has said ‘I always thought that my voice was weird, too weird in fact. But, people seem to like the fact it’s a bit different’ She’s been likened to that of a female version of contemporary songwriters Josh Rouse and Ryan Adams but what really drives her is a deep seated passion for classic songwriting. The Beatles, Carole King and James Taylor with a twist of the bizarre production style of the likes of Jon Brion. Basically speaking, Emily has the ability to pen the kind of tune you won’t forget. She has a fundamental understanding of great songs loaded with soul, her sense of melody is instinctive, her lyrics hooking you in with every syllable. You cannot escape her production nor can you afford to miss her live performances. Get on board: myspace.com/emilybakermusic

Your regular compere, Julie, burst onto the comedy circuit only last year when she reached the final of the Funny Women Comedy Awards 2005 on only her 3rd gig. Since then, she has performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the Brighton Comedy Festival, as well as being invited onto the Funny Women National theatre tour.
This is what the critics have to say about your host Julie Jepson. "Intelligent stand-up that is instantly engaging. Truly fabulous"- bbc.co.uk "It's refreshing to see somebody who's so devoid of cynicism and very funny"- Mitch Benn And if you don’t believe them come and see for yourself.
Tonight’s headline act, Lucy Porter is a big name on both the touring and Fringe circuits and is sure to enchant and dazzle, her sweetness belies a sharpness to her observational comedy and wit.
“A perky, twinkly comedienne who has the smile of a pixie but the mouth of a docker. She also makes some unexpected, gob-smackingly libellous gags which reveal the dark intelligence beneath the bubbly surface, and her audience banter confirms just how quick on her feet she is”
