sun 3 BERENICE + SHISEIDO RED + ELISSA FRANCESCHI acoustic soul
Berenice is a singer and songwriter of the "old school" - her craft is rare in an age where these skills are so often under-valued. Totally accessible to an audience, Berenice and her band will captivate you and lead you through a spell-binding 45-minute set. Having just finished recording and producing her debut album, she is now showcasing songs from it in and around London, building a loyal following along the way.
Shiseido Red started life, three years ago, as a rock band but as time went on it was clear that the true Shiseido Red sound was at it’s best acoustically. This format allows the brothers the chance to exhibit the close harmonies and rhythmic and melodic style that they have become renowned for. Singer, Paul’s lyrics are exquisitely emotive whilst singer/guitarist Hoff’s writing touches us with his reflections on social issues. Currently working on their first album, they have been described as “One of the best bands presently emerging from the Brighton scene” (Phillip Jackson, BBC’s Bright’n Live) Whilst Shiseido Red are inspired by a varied range of musicians; (including The Beatles, Tori Amos, PJ Harvey, Fleetwood Mac, Joni Mitchell and The Smiths; to mention but a few!) their sound is distinctively Shiseido Red.
Elissa Franceschi is only 19 years old, but has been captivating audiences with the soulful electricity of her performances for quite some time now. Her voice, whilst full of passion, power and pain, is also hauntingly delicate. This unique voice combined with an insightful and intelligent songwriting ability which belies her age, truly sets her apart and to watch elissa live is nothing short of a remarkable experience...-

wed 20 BAD SCIENCE + TITAN SYSTEM hiphop
A sophisticated and slinky act” Venue Magazine
With the deep bass and spacious soundscapes of dub, the get-up-and-dance of funk and the bumping grooves and conscious lyrical gymnastics of hip hop, Bad Science have created their very own brand of wickedness. The five core members between them play guitars, drums, bass, keys, decks, percussion, flute, sax, melodica and samplers, juggling instruments throughout the set to bring an unpredictable and constantly evolving vibe. .
The band was seeded originally in Bristol, blossoming fully when two of the founding members moved to Brighton in 2001 and started up their own regular event there. Feeding wild improvised sets, mind bending visuals, poetry, dance and free doughnuts to a growing audience, Bad Science cemented their reputation as an inspiring and ultra-energetic live act.
Since those early heady days the band has been travelling around the country playing countless gigs and festivals. The Bad Scientists have played supports for Aim, Nightmares on Wax, The Herbaliser, Jehst, and Fingathing, among others, and members have collaborated with artists such as Aspects, Spearhead and Catskills hip-hoppers Infinite Potential. Shortlisted for the Glastonbury Unsigned competition last year, Bad Science have appeared on a number of multimedia productions: most recently on ONeills internationally distributed DVD Vertigo. After a few years Tony moved to London and took up a music education, unearthing a real passion for composing and performing.
