JOOGLEBERRY
Two years ago Joogleberry sold its venue but kept the name. “There were way too many fabulous acts to keep them all in one venue” owner Sue Popper says. “It would have been selfish to contain them there! Now Joogleberry’s got wheels. It’s coming out to play wherever you are, at the hottest parties, in the best venues, at your own private events." And because it is Joogleberry, you can be sure of the warmest welcome, the best entertainment and the most brilliant atmosphere, Joogleberry style.
DERRIERE
The hottest most talked about band in the city are an intensely entertaining rock n roll, rhythm n blues, rockabilly soul band featuring double bass, a delightfully raunchy horn section and the soaring vocals of fireball frontwoman Gloria Stitts. They are the perfect band to front Joogleberry’s return to the live stage in Brighton.
SOULCYDE
Passionate soul vocals meets stunningly innovative guitar, add a squeeze of funk, a rumbling of rock, place it on the edge and you have a serving of Soulcyde. This incredible London based band were favourites at the old venue and it’s high time for a slice of Soulcyde in Brighton again.
“Super talented Soulcyde are Britain's best kept secret. They're brilliant."
Geoff Schumann BBC Radio London
SLIM SODA feat. ALISON DAVID
Alison David is widely regarded as one of the most charismatic singers in the country. Think Shirley Bassey, Diana Ross and Julie London rolled into one. Add Alison’s own slice of X Factor and mix in top guitarist Jonnie Harrison Together they perform classic songs from the 40’s to the present day.
If you do nothing else as winter draws in make sure you get out to this unmissable night of pure Joogleberry.
Boost your Business morale with Joogleberry CHEERS!
Joogleberry Acts has launched an innovative new reward scheme for companies who want to thank staff for working hard and sticking with them at a difficult time.
The recession has hit people hard and bonuses and incentives have become a distant memory for many. On top of that everyone has had to really push themselves just to keep their businesses in the running.
Thankfully there are signs of recovery but the green shoots are slow and it will still be some time before anyone can expect a big chunky bonus in their pay packet.
This is why Joogleberry Acts has launched the Companies Hand Employees Entertainment Rewards - The Joogleberry Cheers.
It’s a great and inexpensive way to reward staff who have stuck by their companies, and often stuck their neck out for them, without complaint, working longer hours for less pay during the recession.
As a way to say thank you, businesses can choose from a selection of Joogleberry acts, including comedians, magicians, 20’s jazz musicians, belly dancers, tribute acts, funky divas and many more upbeat fun entertainers. Select a day and time and the act will appear in the office and entertain everyone in the lunch break or designated time. If you want to tell one particular member of staff they are wonderful treat them to their own special serenade.
For just £250, it’s a small price to pay to create a brilliant atmosphere in the office and even more importantly let the staff know that they are valued. The business gets a much needed morale boost which of course has long term benefits for the health of the company.
To find out more about it or to book a Joogleberry CHEERS reward for your business contact Sue Popper on 07930 160737 or email sue@joogleberry.com
Welcome Back Joogleberry
It’s nearly two years to the day since Sue Popper said goodbye to Joogleberry Playhouse, the much loved venue she created with her brother in the heart of Brighton.
Now Sue and Joogleberry are back in the city with a fresh new venture and the original successful combination of fantastic entertainment and friendly reliable service.
This time Joogleberry is not a venue, no longer contained by four walls and a ceiling, no longer limited by the size of the stage; this time Sue brings Joogleberry right to where you are.
Joogleberry Acts is an agency providing music and entertainment for events of every kind. It features the best of Joogleberry's much loved performers including Fake Bush, Los Albertos, The Magic Number, F.N.U.K., The Mountain Firework Company, The Irrepressibles, Two Spot Gobi, and comedian Joanna Neary to name just a few.
No longer limited by the size of the stage, Joogleberry features amazing fresh talent like tribute act Scizzor Sisterz, 11 piece jive band Fat 45, comedian and neighbours star Mark Little, magician Paul Zenon and the new project by Brighton’s best rock band The Love Gods, singer, Nadeah, Venus Gets Even.
For Jooglephiles everywhere waiting to see what Sue would do next, its time to celebrate with Joogleberry Acts.
NORTH DEVON FRINGE
Carly Bryant wowed the crowd in Barnstable on Tuesday night with her debut at the North Devon Fringe Festival. This is the first Joogleberry Acts foray down to the South West for some Brighton to Barnstable action and next year you can expect to see a lot more Joogleberry acts in the area! In the meantime our fabulous Soulcyde will take centre stage there this Friday. If you are in the area don't miss this incredible band.
VIOLA WILLS
Our tribute to Legendary soul diva Viola Wills…

We are very sad to announce that Viola Wills, the legendary singer and resident diva at Joogleberry Playhouse died recently on 6th May 09.
Viola, who sung with Barry White, Joe Cocker and George Benson to name just a few, is most famous for her chart topping single "Gonna get along without you now" and highly celebrated on the disco scene. But at Joogleberry she was encouraged to express her incredible talents through her own jazz, gospel and blues songs; an opportunity which Viola deeply appreciated.
Viola had a residency at Joogleberry Playhouse throughout her time in Brighton and considered Joogleberry to be her home. As well as her own solo show "Just Vi", she performed regularly with Jazzspel, an exciting jazz fusion band, featuring Ben Sarfas, Tom Phelan and other hot young musicians in town.
"I was blessed the day that Viola Wills walked up to my door" says Sue Popper. "As a performer and as a friend I will never forget her. Her shows were absolute highlights of my Joogleberry Playhouse experience and probably my life."
Viola's ability to reach out and touch her audience with a combination of strength and vulnerability as well as her absolutely breathtaking vocal talent and delivery will be remembered by everyone who saw her perform.
Thank you Viola for the joy you brought us and for being the star you are.
We welcome comments, photos and memories from those who were lucky enough to see Viola perform at Joogleberry Playhouse. We will post them into a tribute page in her honour.
