Tony Lewis is a Perrier award nominated Jazz vocalist, guitarist, pianist and songwriter. With over 20 years’ experience performing at sell-out jazz nights across London and Brighton and counting Sir Paul McCartney and Paul Weller among his admirers, it’s no wonder he’s gained such an impressive reputation in the UK.
Tony has co-written tracks for Sony and the London Jazz Orchestra with Robert Miles and Robert Palmer respectively and travelled on 3 UK tours as a dep guitarist for both Blur and Zodiac Mindwarp. Whilst taking the London music scene by storm, playing high calibre venues as Ronnie Scott’s, 100 Club, 606 Club, The Vortex, The Royal Festival Hall, Soho Jazz Festival, and the Paris International Jazz Festival, he developed an impressive reputation and was dubbed “London’s hottest jazz vocalist” by Time Out.
In 1998 he was nominated best vocalist at the Perrier Jazz Musician of the Year Award for his hugely successful debut album ‘Shoestring’.
During a period performing charity gigs for the Terrence Higgins Trust, Tony and his band managed to secure a gig at their annual conference, being the first band to ever perform at The Houses of Parliament.
Since moving to the Brighton area, Tony has been wowing audiences across the city, performing sell-out gigs at Komedia, Concorde 2 and Joogleberry Playhouse. He has also explored his musical influences further through working with dance funk band ‘Flunky’ and Brighton based gypsy jazz swing band ‘The Magic Number’, which saw him perform at Glastonbury, The Big Chill and Bestival.
