One Love

One Love Africa is an African tribute to Bob Marley with interpretations of his music being performed by African artists with original arrangements embedded with African rhythms or sung in their own language.
The concert will consist of songs written by Bob Marley along with songs made famous by featured artists including: Osibisa, Mory Kante and Dele Sosimi, performed in a collage of music, dance and African chants. Many styles of roots music will be covered during the show including reggae, highlife, Afro-beat, Mbalax, township and Afro-rock.

Mory Kante sang and played guitar with the legendary Rail Band of Bamako, Mali which spawned such stars as Salif Keita. In 1988 the Griot from Guinea scored the top spot in the US Billboard Pan-European charts with ‘Yeke Yeke’, this song was later requested by Leonardo Di Caprio to be remixed for his film The Beach.

Osibisa’s fusion of African, Caribbean, rock, jazz, Latin and R&B paved the way for music forces such as Bob Marley and the emergence of African music in the 80's. They were the first African band to have chart success in the US & Europe with their first two albums.

Osibisa are seen by many as the Godfathers of World Music however their influence on dance music is still in evidence with covers of their songs like ‘Music for Gong Gong’ by Masters at Work & Luisito Quintero and ‘Sunshine Day’ by Matt Bianco (a massive hit in Japan).

Dele Sosimi‘s career began when he joined Fela‘s Anikulapo-Kuti‘s Egypt 80 (1979–1986) and then subsequently with Fela‘s son Femi Anikulapo-Kuti‘s Po¬sitive Force (1986-1994). In both bands he was musical director and keyboard player.
