Chique Strings
<< back
Chique Strings are a glamorous and entertaining fiddle duo influenced by Bond and Escala.
Anne-Marie Kirby played for Amy Winehouse at the Brit Awards, and has played for Mark Ronson and Elbow. E Sarah Carter was soloist on world tour with Michael Flatley’s Lord of the Dance and the hit show Spirit of the Dance for 6 years.
Anne-Marie and Sarah met four years ago and found that they had a natural gift of effortlessly improvising string harmonies together. Anne-Marie’s classical training coupled with Sarah’s folk background gave them a unique sound which coupled beautiful lyrical melody with driving rhythms. They set about building up a huge repertoire of music - from Classical to Rock, along with foot-stamping Irish and Gypsy tunes and favourite hits from films and musicals. All of their arrangements are original and none are written down.
With years of experience Chique Strings shows have developed a hearty comedic quality with earthly dollops of audience participation.
Their work as a headline act for Thomsons Gold has taken them to Mallorca, Ibiza, Sorrento, Madeira, Cyprus, Rhodes, Tenerife and Lanzarote. They were also invited to play for Lord Alexander Thynn, the Marquess of Bath, in a private function in the Grand Hall at Longleat.
